The research done prior to developing the application strived to explore the different styles that data is currently visualized. The goal was to examine the approach that other designers took to organize complex information in an understandable way. Our team was challenged to break down the given information and to find the most effective method to represent the data.

Prior to any visual development of the app, our team developed an initial architecture, which helped us to grasp the order in which information should be presented, and how a user would access the data and perform various functions.
In addition to research into data visualization, our team also developed a “moodboard” based on themes and visuals relevant to the medical industry. These images provide a mood and tone that sums up the intended conceptual stylization of our application.

Our team went through many rounds of layout experiments and user testing in collaboration with the directors of the program before eventually settling on a direction.

After exploring many different interfaces and interactions, the final design utilized a unique nested design that results in as few screen changes as possible. This minimizes confusion in navigation, making the structure of the app transparent and simple to navigate. The tone of the application is clean and simple with refined typography to aid better consumption of data.
